GROUNDBREAKING CEREMONY SCHEDULED FOR THE SUPREME AND APPELLATE COURTS OF NEVADA

Las Vegas, Nevada – – – October 23, 2015 – Groundbreaking is scheduled for the new courtrooms and chambers for the Supreme Court of Nevada and Nevada Court of Appeals. The groundbreaking ceremony will be held on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the site of the new building, located at the corner of Clark Avenue and South 4th Street. The distinguished participants will include the Nevada Supreme Court Justices, Nevada Court of Appeals Judges, Eighth Judicial District Court Judges, Las Vegas Justices of the Peace, Las Vegas Mayor and City Council members.

LV Land Company LLC, a member of the EHB Companies brand, is the developer of the 26,100 square foot office building. The Neoclassical design of the building was the product of a collaborative effort among the developer, the Supreme Court, and various State of Nevada divisions. The finest materials will be used to match the grace and nobility of the building’s purpose.

Las Vegas City Councilman Bob Coffin, representing Las Vegas Ward 3, said, “The Neoclassical architecture is commensurate with law.” It is the architecture that stemmed the birth and foundation of democracy in Rome and Athens. The solid, stable, and timeless design falls directly in line with the nobility of the purpose and use of the building. Symmetrical Neoclassical buildings are said to symbolize principles of justice and democracy. Thomas Jefferson drew upon Palladian and Classical ideals when he drew architectural plans for the foundation of Washington DC as the capital of the United States. The architectural continuity with our nation’s capital speaks for itself. The dome and stained glass represent the US Capitol, the solid marble columns represent the current U.S. Supreme Court, the highest court in the land, the Rotunda and interior of the courthouse represent the original Supreme Court inside the Library of Congress.

The project’s visionary, Yohan Lowie, a principal of EHB Companies, LLC, stated, “the building will be built out of masonry structures and clad with natural marble, granite and limestone. It will have offices and chambers for the Supreme Court of Nevada and Nevada Court of Appeals and a 72 seat grand courtroom for oral arguments. It will be constructed with GREEN principles in mind – seeking to achieve a LEED Gold certification. It may be the only LEED Gold State Supreme Courthouse in the country.”
